Green ceramic cutting and trimming is a laborious and stressful task undertaken by ceramic casting operators. To cut off a parts ceramic feeds, an operator must use a stainless steel (so no discoloration after firing from carbon smear), sharp knife to reciprocate up and down and at the same time push horizontally through the ceramic. This is to keep the cut surface relatively smooth. An automated device that could locate the cut feature and interfaced surface of the part, and then carry out the cut off process would be helpful to minimize stress on operators wrists. I'm pretty sure this would need to be a custom designed device, but was hoping to find something close to off the shelf.
