I have 3hp, 3 phase induction motor >240/480v, 8.4/4.2amp, continuous duty, 1730 rpm, 60 hz.

Briefly, it is supplied power via a variable frequency drive that will de-rate the 3hp to to 1hp. the inverter is supplied voltage via a 240v to 480v transformer.
The rpm's needed is between 50 - 100.
Any additional information needed, let me know.

Question: Will this contraption overheat the motor.

Thanks for your TIME!

I would bet on it, it also won't have much for torque if it will run that slow at all. You are asking for the magnetics to work at 3.5 Hz.
What you need is a gearbox with a ratio around 15:1.

Running COOL at 13 hz.

Thanks Anyway

I am thrilled that my motor does not overheat with a 7.5 drive pulley. Thanks for the input though.
