I have two servers for Infi 90 Bailey Control system, Configuration as follows:
- Software Operating system: Alpha VMS Open (DEC/ABB) 7.1
- Application Software: Infinet 90
- Operation Interface Server: OIS43XD100300, Model PB47H-AA
- Type: DECAlpha Station 255/233 64bit
- CPU: DEC 21064A RISC 233Mhz
- HDD: 2x1,08Gb - RZ26N

At the moment, I want to backup the above 2 HDDs into the new HDD, but I don't know the procedure.
Can you send to me the solution for backup?
Can you help me?

Thank you very much.

From what I can remember some of the details regarding the hard drives is hard coded in the OIS software. I would suggest that you look at replacing both drives and not try to change the setup too much. I think one disk is the System disk and the other is the Data disk. You can use larger SCSI drives but I believe you will need to keep the partitions the same size as the original disks. Also there are instructions in the OIS manuals for using the SCSI tape drive to backup the system.

If you don't have a tape drive you will need to do a clean install and then add in your configuration. This method isn't very time efficient.

You could also look on ABB's SolutionsBank website for answers if you have a subscription. Alternatively contact your local ABB service centre.

I'll buy two drives for system disk and data disk.
I have read instructions in the OIS manuals, but i don't know how to install system software and application software into the new drives?

With Unix, it has commands for back up into the new drive, but with VMS software, i don't know!

Can you help me?
Thank you very much.

I can help you. I am providing Legacy Bailey OIS support services in South East Asia. I have a few solutions for VAX/ VMS systems. Either by supplying surplus or Virtualization (replace with Windows using PC). The second way is better, no need for Bailey configuration and can use all the standard PC peripherals. Please contact me for assistance. baileyguy at gmail. com
