We have several Quantum PLC's with CPU 140CPU43412 for power generation application. I want to take backup of the PLC program. I have concept 2.6 with service pack 1 installed on my laptop. Please advise me cable configuration and communication parameters for rs 232 protocol for taking backup through modbus port.

Hi,

I can also supply you with a cable configuration or supply you with a physical cable if you wish. But, I have a question. If the Quantums were originally programmed using Concept software, can you extract the program(s) back out? I have programmed Quantums with Modsoft and have edited a few that were originally done with Concept. But, my first time using an earlier version of Concept, I was told by Schneider tech support that you can not pull the program back out. You either had the original software or you didn't and that was that.

Let me know if they resolved that issue with the later (but still old) revisions of Concept.

Since Concept V2.5 it has been a configuration option to "upload". That means the project must be compiled with this option to enable upload. If the option is not enabled in the Concept project in the controller, then the project cannot be uploaded.

Serial cable is standard and the same for upload/download and connection to other DTE devices. Easy to make 5 wire cable 2-3/3-2/4-6/6-4/5-5/7 looped to 8 each end.
