Initially on boiler drum level there is one transmitter for controlling & monitoring of water level & three trip switches were used for boiler tripping on low level.

My question is if boiler manufacturer provide all drum level securities with DP type level transmitters, is there any code & standard available to restrict on selection of transmitters or switches on boiler drum for level securities or controlling?

Many companies have rules based on a complete safety review and failure mode evaluations.

Depending on the size of your boiler and its criticallity, 3-6 separately piped transmitters may be required, in addition to independent trip devices and indicators...

Thanks d for reply.

Assume boiler is of 250 T/hr capacity.
The supplier offers all drum level trip securities with transmitters.

Issue is not that somebody deliver boiler with transmitters or switches.

Problem is that is there any code & standard available (like in API/ASME, etc.) that switches are mandatory for boiler drum level securities/trippings?

The ASME Boiler Code spells out the minimum requirements and accepted many places. The EU has their codes as well.

API may have recommendations, but you ultimately have to comply with what your customers local/national fire codes require, in terms of the standards referenced.

Can you please mentioned the exact Clause/section of API/ASME where it is mentioned?
