We experienced that our CCC main controller switched over to backup controller without any obvious indication of failure. This has happen few times.

The question is whether this is a healthy switchover or a sign of failure? Based on our analysis, we can’t see any problem with the main controller as once we switched back to the main controller it assume its function as usual until it happen again.

Any idea we how can check the reason for this fall back? Anybody has experience the same? Appreciate feedback.

Normally the switchover to backup controller is performed when the main controller looses the power supply to the main controller. To understand the power supply failure you need to troubleshoot a bit. If you have Trainview system you may have look at the alarm log. Most likely problem will be coming from the power supply line. If the power supply is DC, sometimes the electronic components start failing or out of their tolerances (component degradation) which may lead to intermittent power drops. Other possibility is continuity problem in the wirings. A visual check in the panel will be very advisable (power supply cabinet, which may be located at the back of your panel).

Good Luck...
