Hi all If someone is going to CeBIT in Hannover Germany, could they keep their eyes open for Linux projects and products we should know about? There seems to be a lot of Linux automation work going on in Germany and Austria. AutomationX and VisPRO are just two from that area. From my experience the automation industry is much more present at Hannover Fair (not CeBit), which takes place around end of April, 23th to 28th. Typically, Hannover Fair is the showcase for factory automation -- see www.hannovermesse.de for more information about exhibitors. Unfortunately the site designers seem sometimes not worth their money, quite some links throw you back to the German pages. The next important fair is Interkama 2001, taking place from September 24th to 28th in Dusseldorf, Germany. This is the definitive fair for industrial process automation with factory automation also gaining part of it. Interkama is at least important enough that ISA tried to gain control but then failed miserably (just ask someone at ISA about Interkama '99 -- either they do not want to remember or are telling you stories). Very true... Other important events are the SPS/IPC/Drives and the Embedded Systems, both taking place in Nuernberg in autumn. I have been lurking around these exhibitions during the last years, always searching for people doing Linux stuff. The result can be seen on http://www.linux-automation.com/index_en.html Especially the "PLC" section should be of interest for you.
