Hello,
I would like to get a small "U" shape permanent magnetic for hall sensor. I got one from cutting a SmCo magnetic from a loudspeaker magnetic.
Unfortunately, there is the same North pole in two branches of the "U" shape, and the South pole at the bottom. After I demagnetized it with acetylene fire, it never attracts iron anymore. I try to magnetize it permanently with other permanent magnetic from DC motor or DC coil, but
without success. How can I magnetize permanently this U shape with different pole in each branch?

Thanks for your help.

You need a magnet charger with very intense flux output to charge magnets. I would suggest that you either buy a magnet which is already the shape you need, or use a simple "bar" type magnet together with metal pole pieces to conduct the magnetic flux in the path you want.
