Since just about everything new is low power, it is some type of MOS technology. It gets kinda blurry beyond that point. The high signal voltages in automation for noise margins will affect the choices. Converting levels at real world power levels is expensive in real estate both on chip or off. CMOS would be a good study without better information. ASICs are becoming prevalent as in most embedded designs. A peek at who makes them would be informative.
