Coal flow monitoring

I need to know more about Coal Flow monitoring. has anyone ever monitored for clogging in the conduits?

I assume you are talking about the small pellet sized coal in delivery tubing? Can you monitor the output (into hoppers or whatever), or do you have to monitor the coal when it is in the conduit/tubing?

If you monitor the output it may be possible to use an optical or ultrasonic device to look at levels. You need some way to discriminate between a clogged pipe and a flowing pipe, and level or change of level (i.e. fill rate) could be one possibility. I've not worked with coal, so this advice may or may not be valid.
