I am looking for infomation on collision avoidance system for large haulage vehicles in open cast mining

I am particularly interested in an RFID system. I would like to know if any one has a system that is currently working.

I would also be interested to know if anyone has used laser scanning or GPS for this application

I looked at a system using a combination of RFID and Video Cameras. The RF system was able to initiate switching to different cameras around the machine and Alert all vehicles in the vicinity. We looked at the camera only option but I did see the RF in action. Try http://www.advminingtech.com.au or drop me a note for more details.

You can try any of a number of AGV manufacturers for collision avoidance control systems and packages. Use "AGV" in Google.

There is also a product by "WhereNet" which you may be able to integrate.

A similar topic came up in July-Aug '01. At the time, I contacted a number of GPS manufacturers. Not all responded, but one said they had a system in use, in a coal mine!
