Excuse me. Please can you help me with a question?
The magelis XBTGT4230 hasn't had an external CF card. It must be ordered separately. I prefer use this Magelis with a normal CF card than the Schneider Electric one. Is this possible? Can I use a common CF card with a Magelis? Thanks for your help.

 

The CF card used with the Magelis HMI for data storage (alarms, trending, recopies) can be purchased from Schneider. However, most commercially available CF cards will function. Do not purchase cheap knock offs. I have had success with SanDisk Ultra and recently used a 4GB 30MB/s card successfully. You may have to try more than one brand. Schneider support will not respond to issues with 3rd party CF cards.

The CF card is NOT required unless you select those features that require it to be present. This is configurable in the software. Also, with the new version of software, a CF card will no longer be required for the WebGate feature.

You can also use USB storage devices.

When using CF cards for Schneider iPC products you should only use those from Schneider as they contain the O/S and other features to extend their life and protect the files.

 

I also thought so until I had a couple of issues. Firstly if you download to the cf card and the system reboots, it doesn't always go 1st time. When sucking data out of it using the data manager, you get bogus values and sometimes no values at all.

I have used a lot of different cf card vendors and every time there is something buggy with it. A while ago I bought the expensive schneider cards and have never had a hick-up since. To avoid problems I would just buy the schneider cf card.
