I need a little bit of help in the following scenario.

I am doing master slave communication using VB6.0. My PC is Master while a device on serial port is slave. I am sending a query to it (in hex, query is 02 82 00 00 84). After that the device is going to reply.

Please let me know the signal settings for the port (e.g.RTSEnable, RThreshold, etc.). After sending the query, what changes are supposed to be made to make the receive process enable? Also let me know if any other process is to be followed.

My device is a modem and I am sending a query in the HEX format. The device is also sending responses in HEX format with more or less bytes. Please tell me the signals, (RTSEnable, Rthreshold, etc.) settings and how to store the bytes in temp variable and which data type to be used.
