compressed air flow control

We found that the Pressure reading in the upstream end of a rotameter placed in a compressed air circuit is not showing any pressure. The compressed air is coming through a header at the rated pressure of 50 psig. When we block the flow we see the pressure reading.

Arun,

Can you pl specify where the line heads after the rotameter?

1. You are probably flowing too much air for your compressor to be able to keep up with. Choke off some flow and your pressure will come up.

2. As others posted, you are flowing air to where? if you are flowing to atmosphere then there will be no static pressure. (Refer to the Bernoulli comment)
