We are using OPCLink, which acts as protocol convertor between OPC server and clients (in this case Intouch) talking over suitelink or DDE. Its communication protocol uses three part naming convention i.e. Application Name, Topic Name and Item Name. Here Application name is the OPCServer name.

It is possible to read tags if the tag itself is defined as Topic and its dot field as Item Name. But we could not define Topic Name which should be a Name of group (defined in DeltaV) containing tags of perticular process area, etc. Ideally there should be one Topic which is common for two or more tags.
