hi, right now i'm trying to connect the EMCP3 to a plc and i'm trying to do it over modbus, first of all i want to know where can i get the modbus table to know which data is what from the emcp, and how can i read the alarms, as far as i know i have to write a register to receive the accurate data,

The CAT website is very delinquent on information about the Modbus settings and register map for the EMCP3. I remember i had a lot of trouble getting the same info for the earlier EMCP IIcomm module. I had to pressure the AT commissioning technician in order to get my hands on their manual. I hope it goes easier for you.

You must ask your Caterpillar dealer to provide you the EMCP3 installation guide. This guide contains the Modbus table and some explanation about the Modbus protocol. Only EMCP3.2 and 3.3 has the Modbus port.

 

I have the software of EMCP 3.2 and 3.3 and it's already installed on my laptop. I have a modbus ethernet/serial gateway. How will I connect the laptop and CAT Generator in order for them to communicate?
