Connecting Dummy encoder to CAY42 motion control module

Is it possible to connect a dummy encoder to CAY42 motion control module? Is there a way to avoid encoder break fault with cay42 without connecting a physical encoder to it? I just want to correctly configure a channel without driving any servo with it.
