I bought a gear tooth pick-up speed sensor which is NPN open collector output, input voltage 24 V. I have to connect it with counter to display speed. The sensor have 3 terminal: Vcc, Signal Output, and Common. Could anyone please tell me how to connect with counter?
Do I need to have separate 24 V DC? and do I need to connect a pull up resistor? How to find it?
My guess is 24 V will connect with Sensor VCC, a pull up resistor between Vcc and Signal Output, Signal output and Common are to be connected with the counter.
Also could you please recommend a counter which provide 4 to 20mA output.
