Hi everybody,

This is a general question
For pressure and DP tappings, what kind of purging(if provided) do you recommend - continuous or intermittent ? Any information on this would be keenly appreciated.

TIA

dear mr.P.V.Raman:
Intermittent purging is superior to continnuous in the sense, blast of medium is used with time intervals to safeguard the impulse pipe from
getting clogged by particulate matter.

Mr.P.V.Raman:

We using both continuous and intermittent/pulsed purging on a number of systems.

In fact, we are currently implementing a combined system for monitoring air transport lines on a flyash system, where a fixed flow low level purge is used to help stablize the vacuum signal, and a solenoid switched high pressure purge pulse system is used to "blast" the process connections
clean.
