GM has stated that they will accept 2 nodes on a profibus network as control reliable. But for the life of me I can not come up with a circuit that is control reliable. 2 valves in series is not control reliable. If anyone has a control reliable circuit design they could point me to I would appreciate it. The only options I have are parker and smc valves, smc does not supply a profibus interface.

 

Pneumatic valves are available that are control reliable. They need to signals to operate and if something goes wrong with the valve internally, the valve will lock itself out. Ross (http://www.rosscontrols.com) and Herion (http://www.herionusa.com) make them.
