Control System For Nonlinear Dynamic System

Hi, I am new here.

FYI, I am doing a research on the trajectory tracking for vehicle. I would like to know from the forum members on which method that I can use to control the motion tracking.

For example, I want to design a controller for mobile robot to follow specific trajectory in predefined route.

There are plenty of control method to use, Slide Mode Control, Lypunov, PD, PID, etc.. But I am not sure which one is the best method to choose. Which controller is easy to use and simulate?

So need your advise. If it is nonlinear control, what is the key items that I should take attention since I am not familiar with non-linear control system. Hope you guys guide me to give some briefing.
