We are having sand erosion issue with our control valve out of our crude oil transfer pump. The valve is passing and damaged within 3-months. Is there anybody can share your experience in dealing with the sand for control valve? so far, after the different valve trim or material chosen, how long it manage to last? specific control valve vendor that is good with this type of application?

Hi there,

We have had several of these problems in the past and have tried various things and materials on the trims, but we eventually found the best solution is to keep a complete hot standby valve and just replace it and then overhaul the damaged valve again and keep it as a hot standby again.

May I suggest you to use our ceramic-lined ball valve? The hardness of our structure ceramic used reach HRA88-90,really abrasion-resistant. Usually can be 1 year warranty for high-ware application.

Please visit us at www.fuvalve.com. Or send the specific application to us, we'll make an offer according to your situation.

FUVALVE Structural Ceramic Ball Valves(Al2O3 or ZrO2 Ceramic)
Advantages of structural ceramic ball valves include hi-economy, long life (2~4 times of Titanium Valves), increase resistance to corrosion, high temperature, wear and erosion etc.. They are commonly used in transportation systems of various acid, alkaline or saline gases, solutions, high working temperature steams and slurries, in the lines of oil industry, metallurgy, papermaking, power station, refinery, etc. Structural ceramic ball valves are the ideal substitute for titanium and monel valves in corrosive environments. There are four types of driving performances, manual, pneumatic, pneumatic-spring return and electric. Various special valves can be designed on demand. Furthermore, various high wear-resistant, corrosion-resistant and high temperature-resistant ceramic components, hydraulic pressure sealing components can be provided as well.

How about removing the control valve and run the pumps with VSDs with the DCS signal to the control valve connected to the VSD speed ref instead?

You can find the ceramic-lined valve for abrasive application at www.fuvalve.com. The ceramic-lined valve usually offer 1 year warranty for high-ware application.

Hi there,

From a non instrumentation point of view the ceramic ball valve might look like a good option to you but please give it a rest with this ceramic ball valve posts, since you clearly don't understand the problem or the type of application and control valve in use.
Also please do not use this forum to do sales marketing for your company, that is not what it is for.
