Control valve

The purpose of a control valve is to create a pressure drop to regulate the outlet pressure or the flow rate, depending on application.

One means of dropping pressure is to use a smaller-than-line-size valve body and given that smaller-than-line-size valve bodies cost less, a smaller-than-line-size valve body generally makes sense.

Can a line size control valve perform the necessary regulation? Many control valves have a wide assortment of trim that can used to achieve the needed pressure drop range. A line size valve might well have a trim option that does so, but why not reduce the body size to smaller-than-line-size and take advantage of the inherent pressure drop achieved by doing so?

Does your 1" valve have a trim package that will allow it to control as needed?
