I am concerned about an automation project in my country. There is a requirement for hook up diagram provision.

Is it necessary to provide the hookup diagram for the following instruments?
1- control valves
2- magnetic flowmeters
3- load cells

Normally, there are process hook ups and pneumatic hook ups. Process hook up deals with Differential Pressure Inst (orifice, Pitot tube, Annubar etc.) Pressure Instruments etc.

Pneumatic hook up deals with Control Valve Electroneumatic postioner, I/P, SOV, Air filter regulator etc. Hence you need to provide Hook up for Control valves, On Off Valves.

Regarding magnetic flowmeter and Load cells, you need to provide Installation details, which will be vendor specific. No hook up is required.

Hooks up are prepared for two purposes
(1) Installtion details i.e. Instrument above or below, orientation of taps - side, up, bottom, Specific requirements like steam service, vibrating service, insulation, heating etc.
(2) To calculate Bill of materials i.e. Impulse tubing, fittings, copper tubing etc.

Hope this clarifies.
