It is possible to use standard BNC T conectors to connect Controlnet nodes to the coaxial cable, instead of the T-taps supplied by AB?

No, it will not work and will probably take down your whole network. Somewhere in the AB knowledge base there is some information on what goes on inside the taps.

The guys at Rockwell have said no. Although during testing and some commisioning we had to for a short time with no problems, but I would not recommend it.

If memory serves me, ControlNet is based on use of CATV 75 ohm hard coax cable with RG-11U flexible 75 ohm drop cable and F-connectors. These are standard cable TV products, but are not compatible with BNC coax connectors. One of the advantages of using CATV cable is that the taps and connectors are inexpensive compared with other electronic products. The advantage of using the AB parts is that they are guaranteed to work. Buy similar stuff from the Electronics Parts-R-Us store, and you are on your own.
