Current and Voltage Measurement Using the Same Phase

Thread Starter

We are to investigate an issue reported in a mini hydro-power plant (1.2MW). It is an issue related AVR.

One of the 'technical person' at sight informed us that the people who do maintenance of the control system have used the same phase for measuring current and voltage (grid synchronization), and it is a 'wrong practice' as he has read in articles related to synchronization. He says that we should not use the same phase for the measurements.

Can't we use the same phase for both current and voltage measurements? I don't understand why we shouldn't.
