DC Shunt Generator

I have to test a 200 kW DC motor/generator but the inverter drive cannot be connected to control it. I intend to energise the field with a variable transformer and a bridge rectifier and dump the power generated to a large resistor connected to the armature. The problem is...

1. How does the field current relate to the armature voltage?

2. How does the field current relate to the armature current?

3. From this, how do I select a resistor given that the rotational speed of the generator varies?

There is also a maximum torque which I cannot exceed.

Please help.
