Difference between Foundation Fieldbus and PROFIBUS PA Application Software

I am currently working on Fieldbus based temperature transmitter software development. Now I am supposed to work on PROFIBUS PA based temp. transmitter software development.

Can anybody help me understand what are the important differences between these two communication protocols?
