I have been involved in an automation project in a dairy plant. Does anyone know the answer of the following questions?

1-How many solutions are there to handle discrete
signal e.g. On/off valve,proximity sensor, etc

2-Can I connect a discrete instrument to profibus dp directly?

Answer : The solution will depend on the control
narrative given and on the Programmer
skill itself some programmers have
better I.Q. than the other one.

Answer : You can relate discrete signal to
Profibus DP but cannot connect them
directly because Profibus is a
Communication Protocol
