An application calls for a distance of 50 mtr. between PLC and magelis. Can i communicate without using any special hardware.

I am in need of the answer. What are the options?

The distance depends on which communications protocol you are using. Magelis supports RS-232C and RS-485. Either one of these should work for your application since RS-232C supports a 50 ft. cable length and RS-485 supports a 4000 ft. cable length.

Well, if the protocol you use is Ethernet, then it's still can be done without repeater.

 

With the RS485 over 10m (30ft?), rememeber to use the TSXACC01. Important for electrical stabilty and you com port (i.e. if your using the TER port).

Special hardware... None if you use the TER port and the TSCACC01...

You can only place 2 slaves on that bus though, and you should use the TSXSCA62 boxes at connection point..

Call your =S= rep...

If you need more than 2 slaves then TSXSCP114 PCMCIA card.. If on a premium, i belive the TSXxxx11601 card is cheaper
