Does S7 series need back-plane for power up?

Slightly off-subject here, if you'll pardon me, but does anyone know if the power supply for S7-400, 6ES7407-0KA00-0AA0, more commonly PS 407 10A, will stand alone or power-up or does it need to be in a rack for back-plane I.D./interface???

Does anyone have a pin out?

Many thanks,
Patrick

Most of the S7 Power Supply modules work on the SMPS Principle, and hence you need to load the Power Supply at the least 10% of its rated capacity. Some power supply modules are equipped to monitor (Usually a digital/potential free contact) the Rack Fans and Cubicle Temperature Sensors etc, hence it is necessary to by-pass such signals to enable Power Supply Output (when you are testing on the bench).
Hope this info is of some help.

RK,

Yes, your post was helpful, substantiating what I already suspected and goes towards my requisition for an S7-400 rack. In the interim, might you know the pin-out or where I might find it?

Many Thanks,
Patrick
