Can anyone clarify for me what should be the permissible voltage if we check Earth to Neutral in single phase power supply? And what will be counter-effect if it is higher than that?

It will damage entire system, phase to neutral acceptable range will be 5v, if higher than that means the GND is in proper, for AC equipments (SMPS/Thyrester controls earth resistance will <5 ohms
