I am looking for a fully standalone software simulator for simulating modbus and or CAN Master and Slave for educational purposes. Software is preferably suitable for students to learn the basics of modbus and/or CAN communication. No external hardware should be required to prevent hardware issues during this learning phase.

Any idea's are welcome.
