EExe junction box certification

Thread Starter

I need to know if it is possibe to drill a junction box gland plate that is located in a Zone 1 hazardous area? The junction box is certified EExe and only contain terminals. Will this void the certification if the junction box is drilled or need to be recertified again?

Please advise.
The answer is Yes you can drill the gland plate. How else could you fit the cable gland? The box certification normally stipulates the Max no of Gland Holes on each plate. Remember the glands must also be certified.

But remember that the enclosure must still comply with IP54 ingress
protection in order to stay within the requirements for Ex e protection.
