All,
I am a kind of used to work with Rockwell PLC's (500,5,5000). Due to cost reduction, we are considering to start to work with Elau servo drive
with a build in PLC. Does anybody has any comments about it?
Any information can be helpful.

Mr.Godoy

If you want to use the Elau system as PLC it is better that you to desist.
For my experience Elau is one of the best servosystems on the market.
For better understanding:
-if you have to build a machine with a lot input-outputs and few servomotors with simple functions it is better to use Allen-Bradley or Siemens PLC,
-contrarily if you need to have advanced functions of motion with limited input-output(about 2-300), is better use the Elau system.

Hi Ricardo,
I'm working in software engineering for packaging machinery. Since 20 years I worked with Siemens (S5, S7, Sinumerik), FANUC and Rockwell (500,5,GML) Always it was difficult to control distributed PLC and MotionControl. Now we use the ELAU PacControl since 3 years. It is based on the IEC61131-Standard with excellent motion control included. This vendor is specialized in packaging servo motion technologies. And this is what You'll feel.

All the things a software guy would like to have, they have it. Only some highlights for a short overview:
Digital servo control (Sercos fiberoptic), predefined smooth motion profiles, easy to create own motion profiles, many different
I/O fieldbus protocolls (unlimited points), all axes (up to 40?) controlled by one master, easy access to all motor parameters online by plc (I have programmed an adaptive sealing force control), wide range motor palette, high precission electronical nonlinear gears, synchronize on the fly ....

Dear Godoy Ricardo,

My name is Fabiano Manzan and I am a motion control system integrator. I used motion control Rockwell Automation product for 20 years. For 8 years I am using Elau motion control as well Max-4, C400, C600 with Elau driver mc-4.

Elau has very high quality products with a very high speed program scan. In the same program (Eas-4) you can write the part of PPLC and the part of motion. If you visit my site http://www.art-of-motion.it you can find several applications written in ControlLogix and Elau systems.

In January 2008 I will come to S. Paolo with CEO of Elau Italy (Mr. Andrea Barbolini), it will be our pleasure to visit Optima do Brasil (that I visited three years ago).
