Running with Electro mechanical Ferri Motor with Water Hydraulic System.
We need to revamp the system with Digital Control Electrode Regulation System with Oil Hydraulic.

Is it possible to install digital control regulation system with water hydraulics, if so what kind of benifit is expected?

If digital control system demands for oil hydraulic system pl. send us the detail for the above.

I would like to take this opportunity to try and reply your query.

1) Digital hydraulic system with water hydraulics is technical feasible but the desired results (fast response for automatic electrode raising and lowering to maintain arc length/ current levels) is not available in case of water hydraulic system.

2) Due to lower working pressure and bigger size of hydraulic cylinders the response is slow and the volume requirement (basic control feature for electrode movement) is also more and hence not feasible.

With my little experience with Electric arc Furnaces I can say that:

1. Both Hydraulic (OIL) & Winch motors type elctrode movement controls can be operated with digital controls.

2.Since winch system has its own time of response, it acts slowly as compared to OIL hydraulics controls with PLC or Digital logic.

3. For ferro alloys & Calcium Carbide furnaces, Mintek RSA is a software provider.
