We are having Thermax ESP in our plant for 100 TPD Sponge iron kilns. In the penthouse purging air fan is fixed. Can any one clarify what is the exact application of Purge air fans in ESP pent house.

In winter if the purge air fan is ON ESP field IR value becomes low. Our pent house is becoming dusty during running condition. Is there anything wrong with the PA fan. Pl explain.

 

Purge air is there to keep the penthouse pressurized above the pressure of the duct (the pressure in the ESP). This keeps dust and flue gas out of the electrical area of the ESP.
