LearningExciters

I am interested in know if anyone has experience testing excitation controllers for the purposes of validating the controller model. We are hearing more about NERC MOD-026 (requires generator owners to maintain validated models of their exciter controllers) and are trying to find out how people are doing this testing, what equipment they are using, and details about what signals they are monitoring and how.

There is also NERC MOD-027 which is the equivalent for the governor controller model. If anyone has experience with this, I'm interested in learning about this as well.

The way to validate a model, whatever it be, is to compare the result of the measurements taken from the system (i.e: Voltage Regulator + Generator) and the result of a simulation of the proposed model.
You need an acquisition device and have the knowledge to perform perturbations in the controller (i.e: change in the voltage reference) in a safe way.
