hello everybody,

I am working on a new GE Frame V Gas Turbine. The Problem is that during Gap Voltage Adjustment for Proximity Probe installed on Bearing # 1 get damaged, and there is no place for the new probe installation. So what should be the necessary action?

Machine is still to be commissioned.

The typical damage caused during gap voltage adjustment is to the tip of the proximity probe; it usually gets smashed. Since the proximity probe is screwed into a threaded hole through the bearing housing, it should be possible to simply unscrew the probe slowly and withdraw it and replace it with a new probe.

If that's not possible because the probe was damaged in some other way, and you can't unscrew the prox probe and replace it with a new one, then there's nothing to be done except to remove the bearing housing, remove the damaged probe, reinstall the bearing housing and install a new probe, carefully, so as not to damage it.
