We have 3 old GE Series Six 6000 PLCs installed in our plant. I want upgrade
the CPU but
I don't want to replace the I/O cards now.
Does anyone out there had done this before? I consulted GE but got no answer.

Thanks,

There is an interface card for the 90-70 that scans the Series Six I/O chain. Part number HE697BEM60, made by Horner Electric. You can download the user's manual for it from the Horner website http://www.heapg.com

You may want to turn the existing rack into a remote I/O rack and utilize a
new GE processor in a different rack.

I believe there is a GE 90-70 remote I/O interface that can talk to the old
Series 6 remote I/O. I think it may be a Genius I/O interface of some sort.

try their website www.gefanuc.com to contact factory tech support.

Horner Electric manufactures a device that interfaces a GE Fanuc 90-70
PLC to one or more Series 6 I/O racks. The device has a few
restrictions, however:

1. It does not support Genius bus controllers that are installed in the
Series 6 I/O rack. Any Genius devices should be rewired to interface
to a 90-70 bus controller.

2. It does not support Drive interface modules from GE Drive Systems.
As with the bus controller, you should reroute these to a 90-70 version
of the module.

3. It does not support an ASCII/Basic module or any of its derivatives, such as
- Loop Management Module (LMM)
- IO Communication Module (IOCCM)
- Alarm Display System (ADS)
- Forth Module

You can always call a company like Qualitrol who buys and sells older GE Fanuc parts.
Phone :(800) 784-9385

CHARLOTTE, NC 28273

The other option is use GE Fanuc's "Trade up" program. GE will give you money for for old PLC items (and competitors) to get the latest and greatest in your plant.
