Many a times my PLC is in the shop floor for wiring etc. I need to know if there is any such software with which we can check and test our rungs without downloading them in the PLC. Something like a soft PLC simulator for various makes of the PLC's. if available is it available as a download software from the net. regards. rajesh R kenge

As far as GE equipment goes, I'm not sure of simulation capabilities. For Modicon equipment, the Concept programming software has a built-in PLC simulator. You download your program to it the same way as to a PLC, you can start/stop the processor, turn I/O on and off, and test the running of your program. If someone knows of a better or multi-vendor one, I'd like to know about it as well.

Rajesh, To my knowledge, GE ( or anyone like Softech/SST in Canada ) does not market a product that carries out standalone simulation of a PLC program without the PLC being present. Packages are available that run on standard PC's in conjunction with the PLC. The PC in this case basically mimics the plant. Possible products you may want to look at are... 1) GENESIS3 ( I3S do this ): http://www.i3s.co.uk/ 2) VPLink( Cape Software do This ): http://www.capesoftware.co.uk/ 3) PICS ( SST do this ): http://www.mysst.com/default.aspsales 4) TrialRun : [email protected] None of these are cheap. We have used (1) to great success. Regards Stew Morris
