I am very keen to know, what are the geotechnical factors to be considered while deciding the requirement of Ground Improvement for a plant site and what are the various economical methods available for Ground Improvement?

 

Recommend that you check the IEEE Recommended Practice for Grounding of Industrial and Commercial Power Systems, IEEE Std 142-1991, also known as the "Green Book."

Chapter 4, "Connection to Earth" has a very good discussion on the nature of grounding resistance.
