Help me please, I have some question. What are the differences between Hestelloy C and SUS 316L. Can I observe by the eye? How I will confirm for make sure?

 

The difference is the composition

for the Hastelloc is Hastelloy C
Hastelloy 'C' shall consist of Nickel alloy scrap that contains a minimum of 55% nickel and 16% chrome.

And for the SUS 316 L

(Fe-17Cr-12Ni-2Mo) and Low carbon for welding

Destructive test method: put the two pieces in hydrochloric acid. Wait a week. The stainless steel will be gone. The Hastelloy will still be there.

 

There are portable analyzers that will show the differences. Niton and ThermoElectron make such devices. Complete elemental analysis can be done in just a few minutes. I am sure there are some acid tests that will show difference immediately also.
