How do you know it has a virus? It could be all kinds of things with something that old.

In any case, updating your antivirus software is as simple as paying your fee to the antivirus software company and down-loading and installing the new version.

The anti virus expired in 2010. also people used virus affected pen drives and the system is very slow.

Norton Antivirus-- symantec 12.1.0.2 is the one installed. I would like to install the latest version of anti virus and clean the system. But what i am wondering if i do, so is it delete any Mark VI software? or any communication lost with the HMI will happen?

Just because the system is slow and not functioning well does not mean there is a virus.

I don't see how updating your antivirus software and installing it will affect the base software any.

personally, I would run one of the free malware and virus checkers first to see if there really is a virus.

I would make sure I had a copy of the hard drive first.

It seems to me that whoever sold you the system might have some advice you might want to listen to before proceeding.

The system is GE Mark VI. Are you a GE specialist? my operating system is Windows 2000. Is it possible to change all the programs in to one other new system (windows 7).
