Thanks for the explanation. The Modbus Plus port on this CPU is already RS485, but I have never worked with Modbus Plus. Can I use Modbus Plus port for siemens HMI.According to the Modicon Quantum PLC 140CPU43412A datasheet (https://www.se.com/us/en/product/download-pdf/140CPU43412A), it has 2 Modbus (RS-232) ports and 1 Modbus Plus port.
The Proface GP2500 HMI's "HOST-I/F" serial interface supports both RS-232 and RS-422 and its "SUB-SIO" serial interface supports RS-232 (https://www.pro-face.com/otasuke/files/manual/gp_hard/GP2500_2600-MT03_eng.pdf).
However, according to the Siemens TP700 HMI datasheet (https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/pd/127118?pdti=td&dl=en&lc=en-AR) it has only a single RS-422/485 port.
The Siemens HMI only supports RS-422/485 and the Modicon PLC only supports RS-232. I believe you'll need to use a RS-232 to RS-485 converter to connect the two.
Thanks again. I will work with RS232 to RS 485 converter then.
Hi I also need to make a modbus serial connection between a Siemens Comfort Panel and a Quantum CPU Is it functioning ? What hardware ar you using to convert the RS485 to RS232 ?I want to connect two HMIs on two separate Modbus ports of Moducon Quantum PLC 140CPU43412A. Is it possible to use two serial Modbus ports of this CPU simultaneously?
Any suggestions for brainstorming would be appreciated.
