Hi Guys,

I am new to this forum and facing difficulty with the ICS TRIPLEX Trusted PLC. Issue is related to firmware/build revisions on Processors and I/O Modules.

As mentioned above, I would like PLC gurus to let me know the enhancement done on the ICS Triplex PLC Processors and I/O Modules. My info is as below, all the modules are redundant, i.e. occupying the companion slot.

Trusted Processor Mdl: T8110B Firmware/Build 352000 build 100 or 352000 Build 100.7A
Analog Module Mdl: T8431 Firmware/Build 352790 Build 037 or 352790 Build 130
Digital Input Module Mdl: T8403 Firmware/Build 352870 Build 037
Digital Output Module Mdl: T8451 Firmware/Build 352930 Build 130 or 353100 Build 0037

What is bothering me is we have a varied build in some of the modules, and if a failure occurs what is the possibility of the scenario? What is the latest build for these modules? Can a different build work in the redundant modules? Any idea who is the Technical Contact Person in ICS who can deliver the answer, and if there is a tech note on the FIRMWARE/BUILD please send it to me offlist at ajit_s_kumar at samref. com. sa

Thanks in advance, gurus.

Rgds

Some 10 years ago I did a benefits and cost analysis of the major TMR safety PLCs for a major project. At the time we found that ICS was about $10 per output and Triconics was around $60. Triconics also had 3X the foot print because the voting wasn’t built into the module so you needed 3 of them.

I'd love to see some numbers on today’s PLCs if anyone has any.

Whats the cost per output of RTS300? not familiar with them..

How about Honeywell?

You have to jump through hoops to get the numbers out of the reps so this is the one detail that would most benefit fellow engineers.

I found that most of them all met the reliability requirements and it became a matter of features, footprint (space requirement), and Vibration/EMC tolerance.

Once you reduce that list to a few vendors it comes down to cost.
