Our plant has planned to go for IGV installation for the present LM6000 GE machine.

I would like to know the effect of IGV installation.

Whether it will give the improvement in the efficiency in open cycle and combined cycle.

What will be the effect on individual equipment efficiency? In open cycle and combined cycle?

What will be the detrimental effect of installing the IGV?

How will the machine behave at different load conditions?

 

Yes. the efficiency of combined cycle will increase if IGV is introduced in your GT. Other affects are it will help save the compressor from stalling and or surging whenever a GT trip occures.

IGV & the first five stages of stator vanes on th lm6000 HPC are designed as variable geometry stator vanes. These vanes are hydraulically positioned to be more of less of a divergent duct configuration as the means of establishing the correct pressure for a given air flow through the compressor. As the speed of the HPC rotor increases, the vanes move toward a divergent duct configuation.
