Hi All

In my daily perusal of Linux news, I came across the following on Linux Weekly News (www.lwn.net). This is an extremely important thread for our project and many others that might otherwise require using patched kernels, special versions or other high maintenance fixes. Having the standard kernel be very low latency would make it very much easier to achieve the better than world class speed that will make lplc attractive, especially for machine control and motion. Our niche may may well lie in these "smarter and faster than your average PLC" areas.

And the reply from Linus:

http://lwn.net/2000/0706/a/latencylinus.php3

And the concensus view:

http://lwn.net/2000/0706/a/latencythanks.php3

This would make standard Linux just about the best possible platform for our purposes and more than competitive with any approach on the market.

Regards

cww
