Hi Everyone

I am using an A-B SLC-5/04 to feed signals via DHP to X-Link and from X-Link to ScadaPack via Modbus Protocol for SCADA system.

Surely, SLC-5/04 can talk directly to ScadaPack in Modbus via RS-232, eliminating the need for the X-Link... has anyone had experience with this?

Thanks in Advance,

Vic R.

I don't know if its feasible to use the 232 port on the SLC for Modbus, but I've used the SLC Modbus card from Prosoft many many times and it's very easy and reliable. It fits in the SLC chassis. About $1000.

Allen Bradley does not communicate via Modbus without an external modsoft module! Use the DF-1 protocol of AB and ScadaPack.

AB uses DF1 protocol out its CH0 port. We build two products that can work for you. The DL4000-DMX converts DF1 to Modbus by decoding the MSG instruction in your SLC when the DL4000 is the Modbus Master.

If the CH0 port is being used we also offer the DL3500-Modbus/DH+ interface to connect to the DH+ network for considerably cheaper than the XLINK. Check out http://www.equustek.com
