Industry expectations

Hi,

I am an Electronics Eng. from Bombay University. Other than being a B.E., what other knowledge does a recruiter expect?

It seems to me that it doesn't really matter what recruiters look for, they don't hire anyone. I don't user recruiters but I hire.

I look for
- a very strong inclination for problem solving
- a natural sense of curiosity
- a strong passion for something, not necessarily engineering.

The combination of those things tends to make good plant engineers.

I specifically reject prospects who are not hands-on. We have technicians and various trades who do the actul hands-on work, but any engineer who is too lofty to get into the nitty gritty of a plant belongs in an ivory tower, not a plant.
